On May 9, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo on the New Sunday at St. Severius Church in the Patriarchal Residence in Atchaneh – Lebanon.
His Eminence Archbishop Mor Chrysostomos Mikhael Shemoun, Patriarchal Vicar and Director of the Patriarchal Benevolent Institutions in Atchaneh, assisted His Holiness in the Holy Qurobo.
In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the New Sunday as an opportunity to renew our faith in Jesus Christ like the apostle St. Thomas who, despite his doubt, confirmed his faith in the Lord, which strengthened him to go forth and spread the gospel. His Holiness described the apostle St. Thomas as a courageous disciple of the Lord who preached nations which did not receive any news of the Lord Jesus. This is why he needed to meet the Lord and confirm that He is risen, to be strong enough to witness to the nations he preached.
