Holy Qurobo at Mor Gabriel Church in Marseille

On October 28, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at Mor Gabriel Church in Marseille, France.He was assisted by their Eminences Archbishops: Mor George Kourieh, Patriarchal Vicar in Belgium, France and Luxembourg, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs, Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, and Mgr. Vahan Hovhannisyan, Armenian Orthodox Archbishop of France.In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the history of the Syriac community in Marseille, especially that the oldest presence of the community goes back to the people who arrived in Marseille following the World War. He expressed his pain to see our people leaving the land of the forefathers. He thanked the Lord that the faithful always seek to preserve the faith and traditions of our church despite becoming integrated in the societies they live in. At the end of the sermon, His Holiness gave a cross to Very Rev. Fr. Yacoub Aydin for his long years of ministry to the Syriac people arriving in France.
