On May 17, 2023, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received the representative of the Russian Orthodox Patriarchate of Moscow in Syria Very Rev. Fr. Philip, at the Patriarchate Headquarters in Bab Touma – Damascus.
His Eminence Archbishop Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Assistant, and Very Rev. Raban Augeen Al-Khoury Nemat, Patriarchal Secretary, were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, Rev. Philip delivered a message from Patriarch Kyrill of Moscow to His Holiness, and discussed with him ecumenical matters that are of interest to the two sister churches.
